With reference to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=531835, I
asked on the #hal IRC channel and was advised that the problem was in
fact that the driver was "setting the parent field of the v4l device
wrongly".
This is occurring on a Sony Vaio SZ3 running Fedora 9 with
dkms-r5u870-0.11.0-8.noarch. Kernel version is
2.6.25.6-55.fc9.x86_64. I have also tried with today's svn version
and that doesn't work either.
