yes, patch is made using svn diff from svn rev 79

Just to confirm, the version of the driver you were running was from
trunk, correct?

I'll do a bit of cleanup on that patch you sent me and include it in
SVN shortly; thanks.

Also, if you could add any other comments to the bug rather than via
private mail. :)

There seem to be two issues here:
a) The kernel module you've compiled seems to be missing the main
usbcam bits. Are you sure you compiled this against the running
kernel version, and make installed cleanly? Also, did make complain
at all?
b) The repeated load-even-if-we-failed issue. I'm going to spin that
off into another bug, if that's cool with you?

I have problem with VGC8 camera. It does keep disconnecting after 
loading firmware, always with device id one higher than before. 
Tested on 2.6.24 vanilla on ubuntu gutsy distribution.

Appending log, i hope you will find enough information there.
